Ever since my college days, I have always been someone who loves to experiment with my hair. Be it colours, hairstyles, haircuts, etc, I have done so much and more. Somehow I have always been fearless when it comes to my hair. But over the years and with experience in the category, I have surely found my holy grail for great hair.

Scalp Care: More often, this is one aspect of hair care that is ignored. Maintaining proper scalp health and hydration can go a long way when it comes to hair care. Treat your scalp as a part of your skin, care for it the same way you do for your skin. We need to identify our scalp concerns & needs in order to provide proper care and nourishment. Most people end up thinking that scalp care is limited to hair oils. Hair oils are great but there are many more options of no-wash tonics and scalp serums that can be used daily to provide regular scalp care. After all, a nourished scalp with strong roots is the way to voluminous and beautiful hair.

Hydration: No matter the hair type or scalp type, hydration is a must. And there are so many ways that we can provide hydration to our scalp and hair. Skipping a hair conditioner is not ideal, not even for an oily scalp. Most people end up doing this out of habit or due to lack of time. If you have less time, opt for a Co-Wash, but do not skip on conditioning your hair. Under-hydrated hair can cause so much damage – dryness, frizz and even breakage.

Diet & Wellness: Well, this is a complete non-negotiable. Maintaining a healthy diet full of vitamins, proteins, fruits, and leafy greens is good for your hair too. Ensuring that your body gets all the fuel it needs to maintain a healthy lifestyle is a must! Your overall wellness and even stress management have a role to play in your hair care.

Know what YOUR hair needs: Instead of buying all the trending products, or just using anything off the rack,  understand your hair type and its concerns and choose products according to what your hair truly needs. Most of us use the same shampoo for the entire house and keep wondering what’s not working. We need to step back, identify what our hair concerns and issues are and buy products that cater to the same.

Protect your hair: This is something which I feel most of us end up skipping. Exposure to hard water, pool water, harsh sun rays, extreme temperatures – all of this impacts our hair and we need to know when we need to protect them. External factors have a huge role to play in how your hair looks and feels and this is something we need to pay a little extra attention to.
